The course offers candidates the opportunity to develop basic craft skills in all aspects of Stained Glass.
During the course you will have the opportunity to develop skills, expertise and knowledge in the following:
* Glass cutting and grinding
* Copper foiling techniques
* Soldering and assembly
* Cleaning and patina techniques
* Lead cane dressing (former preparation)
* Lead and glass assembly
* Soldering spot joints to assemble
* Lead cement application and cleaning patina
* Sampler of glue chip glass
* Techniques In repousse (embossed metalwork)
* Health and Safety aspects of using workshops and equipment
Extra Costs, Materials and Equipment
You will be required to provide certain items of equipment and materials, details of which will be discussed during your first session, however, this is likely to include:
* Box/container for storing glass etc
* Clean tea towel for drying glass
* Pens, rulers, erasers
* Rubber gloves
Please Note: an additonal fee of £25 will be collected during the first session to contribute towards the cost of materials and comsumable equipment.
A Learner Support Fund, which is means tested, is available to help students with the purchase of equipment. Application forms for support are available at enrolment.
